MATCH REPORT:
Bishop Auckland (Home): Friendly, 1st August
2009.
F/T 1-2 Thompson
There was a slow
start to the game with Brendan Ledgeway making a
routine save from Gavin Parkin, before Bishops
led after 10 minutes, the impressive Armar
Purewal heading in from a corner.
The game turned
into a bit of a midfield battle as neither set
of forwards were given much of a chance to
score.
Marske’s best
chance came from a corner on 32 minutes, but
Stuart Jackson’s goal bound header was blocked
by Paul Moss and cleared away.
Bishops doubled
their lead a minute before the break. Another
corner, another headed goal, this time from
Wayne Gredziak.
Having made six
substitutions we made a much better start to the
second half.
Carl Chillingsworth
had an appeal for a penalty turned down on 54
minutes after his shot at goal appeared to be
handled.
Marske levelled on
77 minutes. Shane Erskine latched on to a great
throughball from Glenn Wesson and when the young
forward was clattered by the advancing keeper,
referee Richie Brine had no option but to point
to the spot. Benn Thompson stepped up to slot
home the penalty.
Adam Strong had the
goal at his mercy following a quick Bishops move
on 83 minutes, but young goalkeeper Adam Norman
saved brilliantly, then two minutes from the
end,
Norman
again produced another top save to deny the same
player.
Team: Ledgeway,

Blair, Myers,
Taylor, Bradley, Diamond,
