MATCH REPORT:
Grangetown Boys Club (Away): Friendly, 20th July
2009.
United kicked off
their pre-season with a trip to neighbours
Grangetown BC. Burto fielded a host of trialists.
United took the lead after 10 seconds following
good closing down for Wade the ball falling to
Erskine who slotted home from the edge of the
box.. The game developed into a midfield
stalemate until 25 minutes when Steve Cochrane
beat the offside trap to cross for Thompson to
side foot into the net. On the 44th
minute Basher played a precision ball from his
own half for Thompson to fire home.
The second half saw
the introduction of Gabriel and Chillingsworth.
Only a minute into his debut saw Gabriel tee up
Chillingsworth to score the fourth goal. 3
minutes later Gabriel again made a fine run and
found Erskine who made it 5-0. On the 71st
minute a mazy run by wade and a great cross
found Chillingworth unmarked to head past the
despairing boys club keeper. Grangetown got a
consolation goal on 82 minutes when Spence
pounced on some uncertainty in the Marske
penalty area. Chillingsworth completed his hat
trick on 89 minutes with a terrific solo run
beating 3 players in the process.
