MATCH REPORT:
New Marske SC (Away): Friendly, 25th July 2009.
United made the trip up the road for a
pre-season derby at New Marske.
With 5 minutes gone Andy Swallwell put a cross
onto Chilli’s head but his effort went just
wide. 2 minutes later debutant Adam Norman saved
well as New Marske had their first effort of the
game. On 21, United made the breakthrough
following good work by Blair, Roberts and
Chillingsworth, allowing Thompson to net. Marske
should have doubled their lead on 42 but Blair
couldn’t make his opportunity count.
The 2nd half took a little while to
get going but Marske scored again as Jackson got
on the end of a Hysen cross ball. New Marske
responded well with their best spell of the game
which resulted in Machin scoring following
Alexander’s shot that hit the post. Both teams
had chances, but Chilli struck again in 89 with
a terrific individual effort. There was still
time for Chilli to double his tally in injury
time after Gamble’s shot was parried.
