Meet The Players for the 2009/2010 Season

Brendan Ledgeway (Goalkeeper)

Signed last season from Whitby Town. A promising young keeper from York who has made a good start to his United career, winning the supporters and players player of the year awards.

 

Andrew Raw (Defence)

Signed last season from Spennymoor Town, Andy has previous UniBond League experience with Whitby Town. Cool and composed on the ball.

Mark Taylor (Defence)

Big strong player who returned to the club in 2006 after spending four years at Dunston where he won two Northern League titles. Composed on the ball and good in the air.

 

 

Richie Ward (Defence)

Massively experienced defender having played in the Northern League for nearly 15 years with a host of clubs.  Recently returned from West Auckland Town for his third spell at the club.

Anthony 'Basher' Roberts (Defence)

Signed 5 seasons ago having played for Northallerton Town and Nunthorpe Athletic. Can play in goal as well as being a very good, hard working outfield player. A favourite with the fans and last seasons club man of the year.

 

Dominic Gamble

Dominic Gamble (Defence/Midfield)

A top quality left back who likes to overlap and get forward. Previously with Nunthorpe Athletic, Northallerton Town and Billingham Synthonia.

Stuart Jackson (Defence)

New signing.  A left footed defender with masses of Northern League experience.  Previously with Billingham Town and Northallerton.

 

 

Josh Myers - (Defence)

A quality composed player who can also operate in midfield.  Josh has graduated through the clubs successful junior team, whom he captained every season. There are big expectations within the club regarding Josh's bright looking future.

Simon Kasonali

Simon Kasonali (Defence/Midfield)

Massively experienced player having made more than 500 appearances for the club. Returned to the club after 6 years away with Guisborough and Northallerton. A Marske United legend who started out as a junior and now has joined the coaching staff.

 

Micky Waller (Defence)

Micky adds masses of experience to the side.  His previous clubs also include South Bank, Bishop Auckland, Morecambe, Whitby, Barrow, Gretna, Guisborough, and Northallerton

John Seaton (Midfield)

A recent signing from Whitby Town.  A local lad, John will be looking to prove himself after being released in the summer from Carlisle United.

 

Derek Bradley (Midfield / Forward)

Signed last season from Peterlee after an impressive performance against us in pre-season. Our lucky mascot, Dekka rarely played in a losing side last season.

Owen Dixon (Midfield)

A hot prospect for the club having progressed from last season’s junior team.  Owen has bags of pace and plenty of skill and has made a very good start to his senior career.

 

Andy Swalwell

Andy Swalwell (Midfield)

One of the best midfield players in the area, Andy is a brilliant passer of the ball, is good on set pieces and has masses of experience having played at Middlesbrough, Billingham Town and Northallerton.

 

Craig Skelton (Forward)

An experienced, well travelled forward who has scored goals wherever he has been. In his third season at the club after signing from Guisborough Town.

 

Benn Thompson (Forward)

Returned last season from Tow Law for his third spell at the club. Won the Northern League with Dunston and is a proven goal scorer.

 

Tom Raw (Midfield/Forward)

Signed this season having spent five seasons at Whitby Town.  A pacey winger who can also play up front, Tom will be a great addition to the squad when he gains full fitness following a lengthy injury.

 

Danny Brunskill (Forward)

Recently returned to the club.  A big strong left footed striker who progressed through our juniors before playing for North Shields, Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor United, Durham City and Whitby Town.

 

Rob Jones (Forward)

Progressed through the juniors before playing for Carlin How, New Marske and Whitby Town.  A skilful player with bags of pace, Rob should probably have made it as a pro back in the day.
